AN EMERGING Limpopo artist will be among the artists who will perform at the Ekurhuleni Jazz Comes Alive Festival on April 9.
Neo Seakamela, an Afro-jazz-adult contemporary musician who comes from Botlokwa, will play with renowned stars such as Gloria Bosman and other up-and-coming acts to entertain the audience.
It has been her dream to perform in front of the usually discerning audience in Ekurhuleni.
"It's quite an achievement for me to be invited to perform at the Birchwood Hotel," says Seakamela, who is popularly known for her hit song Paulina.
Neoza, as she is popularly known to hordes of fans, says it will be good for her to perform at he festival, where she will share the stage with the big guns in the music industry and also get an opportunity to be seen by the who's who of the entertainment world.
"I believe performing at the Birchwood will offer me the opportunity of a lifetime to showcase my talent and display the potential Limpopo has in terms of music," Seakamela says.
She has her own record label, Bossess Music, and her first album on the label was nominated for the South African Traditional Music Achievers Awards 2009.
Before the Ekurhuleni event, Seakamelawill perform at the Matoks Easter Jam Session, a do for the people of Botlokwa on April 3, which will also be used to acknowledge her roots as a Motlokwa.
The event will also be used to distribute food parcels to poor families in the area on April 3.
"I guess the two opportunities presented to me will come in handy in terms of affording me a platform to show the world that Limpopo also has talent," she says.
"It is only through the support of the masses that artists like me will be able to grow in stature and stake a claim in the music industry."
