Constable Masilo Mbhalati is attached to the Polokwane VIP protection unit.

He turned himself in after he allegedly shot and killed Kgomotso Mannya at the Seshego Beach Front Park, allegedly while they were drinking liquor.

Mannya's mother is also a high ranking police officer.

He allegedly used his service pistol to shoot Mannya in the mouth. Mannya died in hospital. Mbhalati is expected to appear in court again on April 7 for a bail application.
