WARREN Ozard, operations manager for the Federal Hospitality Association of South Africa, has cautioned holidaymakers who book accommodation online without seeing it first.

Ozard's warning comes after a Johannesburg family's trip to Durban turned sour.

Stella Mamatu said she found out about the place on the Internet and took 17 members of her family on holiday. She said she was ripped off because she paid R10000 for three nights in a filthy place.

Bruce Penny, owner of Penny Holiday Flats, said: "We will look at the evidence and if it's true we might compensate her."
