Kenya in champs clean sweep

BYDGOSZCZ, Poland - Caleb Mwangangi Ndiku has won the men's junior race for Kenya's second victory at the cross-country running world championships.

Ndiku clocked 22 minutes, 7 seconds on the 8-kilometre course in Myslecinek Park Sunday to lead a Kenyan sweep. Clement Kiprono Langat was two seconds back in second place, with Japhet Kipyegon Korir another three seconds behind.

Earlier, Mercy Cherono led another Kenyan sweep by winning the women's junior race, finishing the 6-kilometre course in 18:47.

Purity Cherotich Rionoripo was seven seconds behind in second and Esther Chemtai a further second behind. - Sapa-AP
