Smith will be ready for T20

AN X-RAY of Proteas captain Graeme Smith's fractured finger shows he is healing well and should be able to play again in three weeks' time, Cricket SA media manager Michael Owen-Smith said.

This means the explosive opening batsman should be ready for the T20 World Championship in the West Indies at the end of April.

Smith had only recently returned to cricket after another finger injury cut short his tour of India.

The latest fracture, to the middle finger of his right hand, happened while he was fielding for the Rajasthan Royals in an Indian Premier League match against the Delhi Daredevils on March 15.

However, there are injury concerns over Wayne Parnell and Justin Kemp.
