VETERAN actor and playwright Sol Rachilo is on the verge of being rewarded for penning a debut volume of essays and poetry focusing on the Soweto uprisings of 1976.

VETERAN actor and playwright Sol Rachilo is on the verge of being rewarded for penning a debut volume of essays and poetry focusing on the Soweto uprisings of 1976.

Titled Nostalgic Waves from Soweto: Poetic Memories of the June 16th Uprising, the book was published by African Perspective Publishing, headed by Rose Francis.

It has been nominated as a finalist in the Best Publication category for the Annual Labour Media Awards of the Workers World Media Programme.

The book has more than 70 of Rachilo's poems, mainly about events in the world and country in 1976 and 1977.
