PRESIDENT Jacob Zuma will not order a probe into Julius Malema's tender wealth.

Zuma says he has no legal right to do so and challenges those who have evidence to lay charges. This is specious reasoning that leads the public to suspect Malema is beingprotected.

This is despite his vow to root out corruption and, like the ANC, Zuma claims to abhor tenderpreneurs who are in politics to enrich themselves.

Foes of the ANC believe Malema is a wind-up toy of the organisation, used to float policy changes. It seems his wild utterances might not be bloopers but a bid to find out if the people can be fooled into supporting abysmal ideas.

Everyone suspects greased palms abound. Whether this is true or not, the perception has truly taken hold in society.

Malema has been accused of garnering many of the tenders in Limpopo. It would have been good had he delivered, but unfortunately his bridgescollapsed.

His work was shoddy but he wears the taxpayers' hardearned money on his fat wrist while children take dangerous routes to school.

Zuma forgets that a leader is only as good as his team. If the players responsible for probing suspect tenders do not do it, the captain must intervene.

Captain Zuma must get them to do the job or give them the red card.
