Court verdict welcomed

THE Labour Court's decision to nullify the selective payment of cash bonuses in three Free State government departments was yesterday welcomed by the provincial branch of the Public Servants Association of SA.

THE Labour Court's decision to nullify the selective payment of cash bonuses in three Free State government departments was yesterday welcomed by the provincial branch of the Public Servants Association of SA.

PSA manager Gerhard Koorts said the court had quashed decisions by three Free State MECs to selectively pay cash bonuses to employees in the departments of education, health and the former department of public safety and transport.

The Labour Court judgment, made earlier this month, set aside the decisions to selectively implement the payment of cash bonuses in terms of the Performance and Development Management System for the 2007-08 financial year.

Koorts said the ruling was appreciated. - Sapa
