Moloto not a long-term fix

WHEN the time comes Mamelodi Sundowns interim coach Trott Moloto will have no qualms about handing over the reins to his successor.

WHEN the time comes Mamelodi Sundowns interim coach Trott Moloto will have no qualms about handing over the reins to his successor.

Moloto is heading the team charged with finding Bulgarian Hristo Stoichkov's replacement, but at the moment his focus is completely on Kaizer Chiefs. They meet Amakhosi in the quarterfinals of the Telkom Knockout on Saturday.

"I was there with Hristo and have observed it all - the methods, the applications. All I have to do is advance the philosophy of this team and with the little time that is left, look at what is available. The good thing is that I don't have to start from scratch," Moloto said.

As is the norm at Downs, Moloto is playing his cards very close to his chest when it comes to who has been shortlisted for the job.

l Stoichkov has been fined R50000 by the PSL after he was found guilty of misconduct for directing abusive and insulting language at the match commissioner in their match against Moroka Swallows last month. But R30 000 of the fine has been suspended for 12 months.

He was also ordered to pay the costs of the three sittings, which amount to R63000, and write an apology to the league.
