FINANCE Minister Pravin Gordhan continues to be the subject of criticism by members of the ruling tripartite alliance members.

FINANCE Minister Pravin Gordhan continues to be the subject of criticism by members of the ruling tripartite alliance members.

This despite his being defended by President Jacob Zuma recently.

Gordhan came under fire during a meeting of Numsa and the SACP this week. He was criticised for introducing a wage subsidy for unemployed youth.

Numsa described the suggestion as "nothing but regulation of the labour market".

The union called on the SACP to support its call for decent work and to reject the wage subsidy.

Numsa endorsed the planned protest against the National Electricity Regulator granting Eskom a 25 percent tariff hike.

The union strongly criticised efforts to secure a R28 billion loan from the World Bank to fund Eskom's R461 billion expansion programme.
