Makgarebe set bar for Amabinneplaas

AMABINNEPLAAS got their preparations for Saturday night's return African Nations Championship match against Botswana off to a dream start with a 2-0 win over Orlando Pirates at Johannesburg Stadium yesterday.

AMABINNEPLAAS got their preparations for Saturday night's return African Nations Championship match against Botswana off to a dream start with a 2-0 win over Orlando Pirates at Johannesburg Stadium yesterday.

Free-agent Mkhanyiseli Siwahla and Mamelodi Sundowns winger Bongani Thwala scored the two goals for the South African "national development side".

The development team is guided by Serame Letsoaka. They drew 0-0 with the Zebras in the first leg in Gaborone a fortnight ago.

Saturday's match will be played at Germiston Stadium at 6pm. As was the case in Gaborone, Makgarebe host the Botswana Under-17 women's side at the same venue on Saturday at 2pm.

The South African Under-17 women's side, guided by rising development coach Solly Luvhengo, hammered Botswana 9-1 in the first-leg match.

Joseph Makhanya of Orlando Pirates, who featured in the first game, has been dropped this time round.

The team is:

Goalkeepers - Siya Mngoma (University of Pretoria FC), Tshepo Motsoeneng (Santos), Jacob Mokhasi (SuperSport United);

Defenders - Ditheko Mototo (Bloemfontein Celtic), Siyabonga Mxoyana (Orlando Pirates), Choppa Mboweni (Isbizo Academy), Gary Goldstone (Celtic), Peter Petersen (Maritzburg United);

Midfielders - Wayne Matle, Michael Nkambule (Kaizer Chiefs), Thwala, Klaas Galane (Dynamos), Oupa Manyisa (Pirates), Bridget Motha (Tuks), Thembile Kanono (Celtic), Siwahla, Kurt Lentjies (Maritzburg United);

Strikers - Thabo Moleko (SSUtd), Patrick Malokase and Moses Spandeel (both Celtic).
