An article published in Italian newspaper La Repubblica last May alleged he had suffered a heavy loss in a poker game and had been forced to hand over hisluxury yacht, his lawyer told the London high court.
Sarah Toolan, the newspaper's lawyer, said: "The defendant accepts that the allegations are untrue."
