STILL on cloud nine after finishing a credible second during the World Indoor Games in Qatar last weekend, renowned jumper Khotso Mokoena is out to add another medal to his ever- increasing collection.

The athlete, also known as "Crocodile", is among the big names who will be in Durban this weekend for the South African Yellow Pages championships on Saturday and Sunday.

"I'm looking forward to doing well, retaining my national title as part of the preparations for the African senior Championships in Kenya in July," Mokoena said.

"I want to do well in Kenya because that's where the African team to the World Cup will be selected. It's hectic this year, we're also having the Commonwealth Games in India in October where I'm eyeing a gold medal."

Mokoena's personal friend and 800m world champion Mbulaeni "Bullet" Mulaudzi is also tipped to successfully defend his national title in Durban.

"It's going to be a tough one but I'm geared up to win," said Mulaudzi.

Steeplechaser Ruben Ramolefi has made it clear that he is chasing a new record in the 3000m steeplechase this year. Ramolefi - whose current national record is 8min:11.63sec - is in great form after winning the 3000m in a series meet at the same venue in 8:25.50.

"Durban has always been a great platform for me to set a new national record. The plan is to run from the front," said Ramolefi.

Other household names who will be seen in action in Durban include the Phalula twins, Lebo and Lebohang, Tebogo Masehla, Robert Oosthuizen, Elizna Naudé, Juan van Deventer, Sunette Viljoen and Rene Kalmer.
