DEMOCRATIC Alliance leader in Limpopo Desiree van der Walt has expressed disappointment at the provincial department of education's silence on the party's proposal to adopt a dilapidated school in the Fetakgomo municipality in Sekhukhune.

The party had asked the department for permission to adopt Tswereng Primary School so they could help the struggling pupils.

Van der Walt said there was no answer provided by the department to save the ailing school, which might be a blow.

However, departmental spokesperson Pat Kgomo yesterday said: "We discourage political parties from adopting schools.

"And if they force themselves we will act to make sure that they did not adopt the school without our permission."
