This according to winger Tlou "Shuffle" Segolela, who scored one of the goals against Fluminense - a second-string team - on Sunday night.
There were braces from Kermit Erasmus and Simphiwe Tshabalala, while Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Richard Henyekane and Dylon Claasen also scored.
"The training has been tough but we are happy to be here because we will be the fittest players in the tournament," Segolela said.
"We are not spared one bit - it is like we are preparing for war. The centre here in Brazil is great, we do a lot of gym work, exercises and speed training.
"We are all aware that we have to work hard to impress the technical staff because you still have some of the Europe-based players who also want to be in the final World Cup squad. The support we have been getting from the technical staff has been great."
Thulani Serero said: "We are all dreaming about being part of the final squad. Some of us are still young, even if we don't make the final squad for the tournament in June, there is still the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
"The camp here will help us gain experience. It's good that coach Carlos Alberto Parreira has brought a lot of youngsters too, which augurs well for the 2014 World Cup campaign."
Bafana were set to play Boavista in the early hours of this morning.
