The Bulls retained their top spot on the Super 14 log after their meritorious 50-35 triumph over the Highlanders at Loftus on Saturday.

Bulls' excellent win last weekend was their fourth successive victory.

They were cheered on by their vociferous fans and responded with superb play. They led 36-14 at the break but took their feet off the pedal in the second half.

Coach Frans Ludeke promised to make adjustments ahead of their home final game against Hurricanes on Friday night before their tour Down Under next week.

"We lost handle of the game in the second half and committed uncalled-for mistakes," said Ludeke.

He promised to go back to the drawing board and make some adjustments before their next game.

Bulls struck early through hooker Gary Botha and wing Francis Hougaard within 10 minutes of the first half.

They earned their bonus points on the 26 minute following four tries from Gary Botha, Francis Hougaard, Gerhard van den Heever and Wynand Olivier.

Bulls' remaining scorers: Tries: Pierre Spies (2), Hougaard; Morne - six conversions and a penalty.

Highlanders: Tries: Israel Dagg (3), Tim Boys, Robbie Robinson. Matthew Berquist (three conversions), Israel Dagg (two penalties).
