Two Malawian nationals have been arrested on suspicion of stealing goods worth R65000 after the truck they were driving crashed .

Western Cape police spokesperson Inspector Lindikhaya Mkhontwana said the two men were transporting computers, motor boat engines, television sets, electronic appliances, bicycles, music systems and bank notes worth R26000 when the incident happened on Saturday.

"The pair could not provide the police with proof of purchase or transportation documents."

They told the police the items were being taken to a Johannesburg terminal to be transported to Malawi.

Both men are expected to appear in the Laingsburg magistrate's court on charges of being in possession of suspected stolen goods today. - Sapa
