THE fact that South Africa is a democratic country does not mean disgruntled citizens can do what they want, Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane said in Pretoria yesterday.

THE fact that South Africa is a democratic country does not mean disgruntled citizens can do what they want, Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane said in Pretoria yesterday.

She warned protesters against infringing other people's rights and said destroying communal facilities did not hurt anyone but the protesters themselves.

"This kind of behaviour results in government having to spend repeatedly the sparse resources on the same projects," she told the National Press Club.

She was referring to service delivery protests that had besieged areas like Soshanguve, Atteridgeville, Mamelodi and Hebron recently. - Sapa
