Farmer held for beating up daughter

FARMER Derick James Steyn, earlier charged with assaulting a farmworker, appeared in court yesterday for beating his daughter.

The 46-year-old Vaal farmer, who has a pending assault case for an alleged racial attack on a former employee of his, appeared in the Meyerton magistrate's court.

He is alleged to have assaulted his daughter Tanya Steyn. The 21-year-old woman had gone to visit him when the incident occurred two weeks ago.

She ran to the Meyerton police station and laid assault charges.

Steyn, who is out on R1000 bail and on trial for allegedly assaulting Thembi Ndlovu, was arrested and released on yet another R1000 bail.
