The Lost Boys actor's mother Judy is heartbroken by the passing of her son, who died aged 38 at their Los Angeles home on Wednesday from an alleged prescription drugs overdose.
Judy said: "I am a cancer victim and Corey (pictured) was helping me at home. He was a good boy. I'm devastated by his death."
The bereaved parent - who is divorced from Corey's father Bernie - telephoned emergency services on Wednesday morning and he was later taken to Providence St Joseph's Medical Centre, in Burbank, California, where he was pronounced dead.
Los Angeles Coroner assistant chief Ed Winter has now revealed four prescription drugs bottles were found at the apartment.
Winter has also confirmed there will now be an investigation to confirm the cause of death, which has currently been ruled as inconclusive pending an autopsy and toxicology test.
Corey had made no secret of his battles with drug abuse and in 2000 he confessed to taking large quantities of the sedative Valium every day.
But it appeared to be a battle he had won and in 2004 he claimed he had overcome his drug abuse problems. - Bang
