Noh on course for British Open

KUALA LUMPUR - South Korean teenager Noh Seung-yul continued his sparkling form by firing an opening-round six-under-par 66 for a share of the lead after the opening round of British Open International Final Qualifying.

KUALA LUMPUR - South Korean teenager Noh Seung-yul continued his sparkling form by firing an opening-round six-under-par 66 for a share of the lead after the opening round of British Open International Final Qualifying.

Noh, who won the Malaysian Open co-sanctioned by the Asian and European Tours on Sunday, must finish in the top four to qualify for the Open at St Andrews in July.

The 18-year-old fired an eagle and seven birdies in his round to lead the 72-man field at the Saujana Golf and Country Club with Danny Chia of Malaysia.

"It was a mixed round for me but overall I'm glad to shoot what I did on this tough course," Noh said in an Asian Tour news release. "My putting worked very well and you need that, especially on these greens." - Reuters
