Somehow he has accomplished all this by the age of 26.
His first love, musically, was hip-hop but when DJ legend Fresh released Fresh House Flava 1 he was converted to house music.
After matriculating he studied marketing, but dropped out after two years to focus on music.
He now plays to thousands of people every week.
"I play from three to five shows a week and I seldom play to fewer than 1 000 people."
DJ Euphonik, whose real name is Themba Mbongeni Nkosi, also has a weekly radio show on Sunday nights on 5FM. He describes the show, My House, as an opportunity to share his music in a more intimate setting than a club. The show has more than 250000listeners.
Many DJs are moving away from vinyl records to the more advanced Serato, which is vinyl emulation software that allows the user to manipulate the playback of digital audio files on a computer. His verdict? Euphonik says he loves Serato.
Another important piece of technology for DJs are the headphones they use. Euphonik put several brands of compact in-ear "bud" headphones to the test for us.
The first product he tries are Phillips Bubble earphones.
"These have very cool packaging but it's a mission to open.
"The sound comes through clearly and there is no distorting," he says.
He then tries Griffin Tunebuds. "The sound only plays clearly when you keep it low - the louder it gets the more it distorts," he says.
Then he tries Philips Perfect earphones. "This has the best design, but it feels like it might break easily. The sound is not good. They distort the sound quite a bit."
Lastly he tries Safeway's Microbud earphones.
"I don't like the way I have to pull the cords apart. But it's okay because their sound is better than the rest. The carry pouch it comes with is also a nice addition. These are by far the best."
