GAUTENG Lions coach Dick Muir has reverted to the team he started the season with when naming tomorrow's line-up against the Waratahs in Sydney.

Selecting eight new players in last week's clash against the Brumbies afforded a number of regulars a rest but it's back to the grindstone for the regular XV.

Earl Rose is back in his familiar position of fullback, while the up-and-coming 19-year-old Wandile Mjekevu regains his place at the expense of Dusty Nobel.

Carlos Spencer is also back in the flyhalf slot and big things will be expected of the signing. The honeymoon period is over for the former All Black and it's time to deliver the goods for a Lions side that remains second from the bottom of the log.

Without a win to their name Spencer might be the spark that will ignite a Lions campaign that has so far spluttered along.

Another positive for the Lions is the selection of Jano Vermaak on the bench following a lengthy layoff due to injury.

Vermaak will be sure to get some game time in the second half but not too much can be expected from someone returning from six months on the sidelines.

In the engine room Heinke van der Merwe and Hannes Franklin take over the front row duties, while the loose forward trio of Derrick Minnie, Cobus Grobbelaar and Todd Clever has a familiar look to it.

The Waratahs have been a mixed bag this season.

Sitting in mid-table they have two wins from their four games and should pick up a win come tomorrow morning in front of their home crowd.

They have named an unchanged side from last week's clash with the Sharks and the week's rest at home after the long trek back from South Africa should see them rested and raring to go. Kickoff is at 10.40am.
