'His behaviour gives musicians bad name'

MUSICIAN Doc Shebeleza yesterday blasted Jub Jub, saying his reckless behaviour gives artists a bad name.

"As I read the story (of the accident) in Sowetan I thought as responsible musicians we have to come down hard on Jub Jub," Shebeleza said.

"What was he thinking racing on such a road at peak time?

"How can we be respected when some people are behaving in this way? These children look up to us. Jub Jub was very reckless," he said.

Shebeleza later visited Jub Jub at the Protea Glen police station holding cells.

He also visited the Masemola family to offer his condolences and assured them that not all musicians were irresponsible.

Jub Jub's mother, Jackey Maarohanye, popularly known as Mama Jackey, also visited her son yesterday afternoon.

Dressed in a stylish suit and high heels and flanked by two young men, she smiled as reporters asked if she had anything to say about her son's accident.

"I have no comment," she responded.

Yesterday Themba Tshabalala was named as the friend of Jub Jub who had been driving the second Mini Cooper.

A source said the car belonged to a woman only identified as N Maleka. She reportedly fled the scene just after the accident.

Jub Jub and Tshabalala are scheduled to appear in court today to face charges of four counts of culpable homicide, drunken and reckless driving.

Social network site Facebook was full of comments about the fatal accident.

President Jacob Zuma's aide, Zizi Kodwa, wrote: "The reported tragic accident involving the kids who lost their lives in Soweto is a pain I cannot even imagine. May God give strength and guidance to the families who lost their loved ones."

Rapper PRO said: "Ahh, Jub Jub ... kanjani mfanakithi, (how can you my brother?). It's all over now. My condolences go out to the families of these kids."

Poet Ntsiki Mazwai wrote: "I am still shocked that Jubi baby killed 5 (sic) kids ngenxa yeziyobisi (because of drugs)... it's gonna be a long journey for him.

DJ Sbu wrote: "If you are a cokehead . you are part of this problem, innocent lives have now been lost."
