coaches predict great time

SPAIN coach Vicente del Bosque predicts that the 2010 Fifa World Cup will be a roaring success, adding that the tournament will be a great advertisement for Africa.

SPAIN coach Vicente del Bosque predicts that the 2010 Fifa World Cup will be a roaring success, adding that the tournament will be a great advertisement for Africa.

"All of us coming to the tournament must contribute to the success of the tournament," said Del Bosque, whose team is one of the favourites to lift the trophy on July 11.

Del Bosque is familiar with facilities in South Africa after visiting the country several times, including in June last year for the Confederations Cup. He was also here in December for the final World Cup draw in Cape Town.

Del Bosque, who took over the coaching reins from Luis Aragones after Spain's title success at Euro 2008, was also at the team workshop in Sun City two weeks ago.

"I love this country and the people. The passion for football in South Africa is incredible. Everybody here is excited about hosting the World Cup," Del Bosque said.

His sentiments were echoed by Germany coach Joachim Loew, who said: "You can see everywhere in the streets of South Africa that something big is coming soon. I have no doubt the country will put on a great show during the World Cup.

"The facilities here are good. Some of them are the best in the world. There is no doubt we will have a great World Cup. Africa will be proud of South Africa. A successful World Cup in South Africa will make it possible for other African countries to bid for other major global events, including the Olympics."

Marcello Lippi, coach of defending champions Italy, said: "Everybody in South Africa is doing a great job to make the World Cup a success."

Rabah Saadane, coach of Algeria, said: "As an African, I'm proud that the World Cup is finally coming to our continent. South Africa did well during the Confederations Cup in June. The World Cup will be a more successful event."
