A FORMER prisoner has confessed to how a woman begged him for days to kill her policeman husband.
In a statement accepted by the Pretoria high court, Kabelo Molopyane told the police he had just been released from prison in August 2007 when Margaret Thole asked him to kill her husband.
Molopyane, 27, and Margaret Thole, also 27, are on trial for the murder of Captain Charles Thole, 50.
Molopyane said in the statement that Thole had been so desperate to see her husband dead that she even offered him - and another man - sex.
The confession reads: "Margaret asked me and Bra Oupa to kill her husband. She even slept with us.
"But I still maintained right through that I did not want to involve myself.
"On September 19 2008, my friend (Ditiro) and I went to a birthday party organised for Margaret's mother.
"At the party, Margaret called us outside and told us that she had a firearm and she wanted us to kill her husband that night."
The statement claims that Thole asked them to come with her to her house.
It continued: "Ditiro said he will pretend as if he was going home and will use a different road to get to Margaret's house.
"I went to Margaret's house where I found Bra Charlie (Thole's husband) sitting in his garage where he ran a spaza shop, drinking beer and I joined him. Ditiro came in and shot Bra Charlie twice. We left the house on foot and then caught a taxi to Mamelodi East."
The statement said: "The following day Margaret called me and told me that the job has been done. She said she would sell the BMW and a bakkie and when her husband's money comes out she will pay us. She said I must pass the message to Ditiro."
Judge Jody Kollapen yesterday rejected claims that Molopyane was forced to make a statement.
The trial continues tomorrow.
