GLASGOW - Scottish giants Rangers confirmed yesterday that majority shareholder Sir David Murray had begun discussions with property developer Andrew Ellis about a takeover.

GLASGOW - Scottish giants Rangers confirmed yesterday that majority shareholder Sir David Murray had begun discussions with property developer Andrew Ellis about a takeover.

The runaway Premier League leaders - who are £31million (R345million) in debt - said discussions with "interested parties" were at an early stage.

An independent committee of the board has been set up to consider offers for Rangers. Murray stepped down as chairperson in August last year. - Sapa-AFP
