FRESHLYGROUND is set to thrill music fans at The Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City in Johannesburg.

The group will perform there on March 26 and 27.

The Afro-jazz band will take you down memory lane with tunes such as Doo Be Doo, Buttercup, Nomvula, I Would Like and many more.

They are currently cooking up another album, which will be ready in May, that incorporates kwela, African folk, blues and jazz.

Lead vocalist Zolani Mahola, has earned a name for herself with her distinctive and beautiful voice.

Since its inception in 2002 Freshlyground has firmly established itself in a market flooded with good sound.

Hailing from diverse backgrounds, the seven-member band weaves musical magic that is highly infectious and indeed groovy.

They launched themselves with the albumJika Jika under their own Freshlyground Records label in 2003. Its immediate success cemented them as one of South Africa's most successful young acts.

It kick-started their career and reaffirmed their reputation as a fresh and vibrant young face in South African music.

This exposure resulted in an invitation to perform at the Harare International Festival of the Arts and at the Robben Island African Festival.

Jika Jika was followed by the equally successful Nomvula, which won Freshlyground many awards, including the international MTV Music Award for best African Act.

After Nomvula wcame Macheri in late 2004 which also did exceptionally well. They have performed in many countries including the UK, Italy, Germany and Belgium.
