Sipho Chiliza, who was the party's election coordinator at Luthuli House in Johannesburg, said the officers followed him from Corlett Drive off-ramp until he reached his driveway on Friday night.
Chiliza, a businessman, said he was insulted for driving a C55 Mercedes Benz AMG.
He said: "When I pulled up at my driveway, two white officers jumped out with big guns. They said 'who do you think you are driving like that?'
"Driving a nice car does not mean you can do as you please. You are just a kaffir'. They then assaulted me before throwing me in the back of their van."
He was detained at the Norwood police holding cells overnight and charged with negligent and reckless driving.
But Chiliza hit back and laid assault and crimen injuria charges at Bramley police station.
Police Inspector Moses Maphakela said the docket was sent to the senior public prosecutor for a decision.
"Whether or not the police officers are going to be arrested hinges on what the prosecutor's decision will be.
"In the police service we don't allow our members to assault people. If it is true then it is something we would like to condemn," Maphakela said.
Chiliza has also reported the officers to senior ANC members, including Deputy Police Minister Fikile Mbalula.
Although Mbalula was attending an NEC meeting and could not be reached for comment, Chiliza insisted the no-nonsense politician promised to personally look into the matter.
He said at the time of his arrest the officers would not even let him park his car inside.
"Luckily some security guy who was patrolling came around and I had to ask him to park it for me while I was sitting in the back of a police van.
"My Mercedes Benz AMG made me spend a night in police cells but I will not give it up," Chiliza said. - Cecil Motsepe
