SOWETO-based soccer administrator Phil "Chippa" Mogodi has been forced to quit Safa Johannesburg as deputy president.

"I'm done with the region," a fed-up Mogodi said yesterday. "People have been accusing me of acting illegally after I was called by clubs to a meeting. I was elected by the clubs to serve on the structure, so there was no way I could have snubbed them. I attended the meeting without knowing the agenda.

"A resignation has been sent through to regional president Tony Reeves, who is the one blaming me for meeting disgruntled clubs."

Reeves said Mogodi had been suspended and had since sent a letter of resignation. "We have suspended Phil for bringing the region into disrepute," Reeves said.
