The launch will take place at the charity organisation's offices at 14 Hertzog street, Despatch at 9am, said Anathi Zantsi, a spokesperson for the organisers.
"We will also use the event to create awareness about the soccer tournament, which is for schools in Port Elizabeth and surrounding areas.
"The aim of the tournament is to raise funds and develop soccer in this area.
"We hope representatives from various soccer academies will also join us on the day of the tournament."
Port Elizabeth has produced great players like Patrick Mayo and Frankie Schoeman, and top administrators like Danny Jordaan and Dennis Mumble.
The 2010 NMMU Soccer Charity Cup will take place on the North campus of the university in Port Elizabeth on April 15 and 16.
"The buzz word in South Africa is soccer, as a result of the 2010 Fifa World Cup coming to our country in June," Zantsi said.
"This is a yearly tournament aimed at developing soccer in our province. We had 21 teams participating in Under-13, Under-16 and Under-19 categories last year.
"We will also use the tournament to promote the 2010 World Cup because Port Elizabeth is one of the nine host cities for the biggest soccer spectacle on earth.
"SuperSport's Let's Play (show) were with us last year, which helped to promote our event in South Africa and across the mother continent.
"We will also be engaging the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality's 2010 office to help us as we also plan to use our tournament to spread the World Cup gospel."
