MPUMALANGA will be the place to be this weekend when the Benefit Jazz Festival In the Park takes place in Witbank on March 6.
The festival is among the huge events that will start off the entertainment calendar on a high note.
With an interesting line-up the festival promises to be a wonderful outing for fun lovers.
It features favouritemusicians such as Ringo Madlingozi, Ntando, Thandiswa Mazwai, Lira, Camagwini, Zonke, Zulu Boy, Thembisile, Surry, Kirvo and Marimba Jazz Band.
Extreme Studio project manager Tshepo Hassimsaid the festival will give music lovers an opportunity to not only experience great music but to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate.
Hassim said all ticket sales will go to charity organisations in the Nkangala district municipality and surrounding areas.
"We are excited to announce the start of a great entertainment venture and would like the people of Nkangala and Mpumalanga to take ownership and support it because it takes care of the needy in their own communities who often find themselves sidelined by promotional agencies," Hassim said.
He said the proceeds would go to charities such as the Protective Workshops, Stimulations Centres, Social Organisations For Children, Assisted Living For Older Persons, Residential Care Facilities For Older Persons, Social Organisations For Older persons, Shelter for Street Children, Outpatients Treatment Centre and Place of Safety For Children.
Afro-pop singer Ntando Bangani says about the initiative: "I am happy to be part of a project of this nature, which will enable me to carry out my commitment to charitable causes.
"It's always exciting for me to connect with my fans through live shows, but when given an opportunity to connect with them in a way that makes a difference in someone's life is even better."
Tickets for the show cost R150 a person at Computicket and Shoprite Checkers, and R200 at the gate. The show starts at 2pm.
