TOMORROW marks the first of the last 100 days before the 2010 Fifa World Cup starts and events have been organised across the country for the countdown.

Durban is to host the official launch and the extravagant celebration will include a special gala banquet and a football match at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

The 100 Day Countdown builds on the "Fly the flag" initiative, which brings together all who live in South Africa around the country's national symbols and anthem and expresses support for Bafana Bafana.

Organisations and institutions have been invited to host events at midday tomorrow, enabling staff, clients and partners to sing the national anthem, wear the Bafana Bafana kit, dance the Diski and acknowledge the flag.

Mini-football, football quizzes, chats about what makes us good hosts and good football supporters and discussing ways in which football can bring South Africans closer as a nation, are among the activities that have been suggested as in-house team-building exercises.

In Johannesburg the municipality is inviting everyone to get down to Maude Street in Sandton. The event will be held between 11am and 3pm.

Entertainment will include the dazzling Diski dancers who will teach everyone their moves.

The Diski Striker vehicle from the James Hall Museum of Transport will be presenting its vuvuzela frenzy with vuvuzelas and soccer-balls as prizes.

Music, games, quizzes and live artists, Freshlyground, Karen Zoid and others are part of the programme.

SA Tourism will be taking part with its "Fly the Flag" initiative at the Sandton Convention Centre while the City of Johannesburg will be promoting its popular "You Make Joburg Great" campaign.
