Captain Klaas Maloka said the incident happened at an industrial site called Pharmaceutical section at about 3pm on Saturday.
He said the woman was working when her boyfriend entered the workplace and asked to see her.
"A heated argument started between the couple," Maloka said.
"The boyfriend drew a knife and stabbed his lover six times on the stomach."
Police arrived soon and chased after the man who was arrested a few metres away. The victim was taken to Middelburg Hospital in a serious condition.
Maloka said the man was charged with attempted murder and he is expected to appear in the Middelburg magistrate's court today. - Sapa
