This call is not new. It has been made before, but the stumbling block remains the same. The one thing that stops such an audit is the fact that most senior members of the alliance are living beyond their monthly salaries.
It is no secret that most people, both in government and in the ruling party, are involved in tenders and projects that are milking the state of a lot of money. People have made a fortune out of politics, yet they claim to feel the pain of the poor and the vulnerable.
It is a total disgrace that some people have used politics to enrich themselves at the expense of the masses.
Though the idea is a good one,it remains to be seen how the audit will be carried out and who will be the first to be audited?
President Jacob Zuma does not seem to be in favour of such an audit. I wonder whether he knows something most of us don't?
I welcome any idea that seeks to root out corruption and corrupt individuals in the system.
