Tsogang was founded in 1999 and provides counselling and basic health education for orphans and vulnerable children. Tsogang also fights abuse against women and children.
Founder and director Gloria Bodibe says they desperately need a new building. Bodibe started the drop-in centre in her own home, and is planning a home for all the children who go there for meals.
There are 48 volunteers who receive a stipend from the department of social development. The contract is renewed every year by the local municipality.
"Tsogang Sechaba would like to thank Sowetan for buying groceries for us," Bodibe says. "It will make a huge difference since we have 1062 orphans and vulnerable children to feed. Social development funds 300 children and we have to raise money for 762.
"Thank you very much, Sowetan, and may the good Lord keep you. May our relationship stay intact for now and the near future," she says.
Tsogang has partnered with Infinity, which provided six computers for a skills training project. There are 20 children who are being taught by a professional.
"We need money to take our children to a summer camp or a journey by train to Durban or Cape Town. Some of them have never been out of Johannesburg. They have never even been to McDonalds," Bodibe says.
"There are so many things we hope to do with them. We do not want them to feel deprived. It is hard but we are doing our best."
Tsogang still needs a new building; computers and furniture; a container for baking bread; toys, a library, cultural toys; clothes and blankets; uniforms for the volunteers. The project would also appreciate any kind of transport.
