IT'S a scandal! Khanyi Mbau has landed a role in e.tv's popular soapie Scandal! to play someone very similar to her in real life.

The drama queen will be on the Scandal! set to shoot a cameo role tomorrow. The 25-year-old socialite, whose previous appearances in Muvhango and After Nine were short-lived, will share the screen with heavyweights such as Sello Maake ka Ncube, Clint Brink, Shona Ferguson and Joyce Skefu, among others.

Mbau will play the role of Katlego, a socialite whose marriage to a rich old man is on the rocks.

The queen of bling yesterday told Sowetan that she was very excited about her new role in Scandal!

Mbau, who was married to a former rich man, Mandla Mthembu, said the role has similarities to her real life.

"It is nice to see that the soapie has confidence in me. Hopefully the role will grow into something bigger.

"The role is so me, and it was easy for me to tap into it."

Mbau's first acting role was in Muvhango five years ago when she was roped in to play Doobsie Mukwevho after the previous Doobsie, Lindiwe Cibi, was shot.

She was fired after only a few months.

Scandal! publicist Bongi Potelwa said Mbau would start appearing on the screens in May.

"Hers is a short call, just to bring back that flavour that makes Scandal!

"Katlego is a very scandalous woman who knows how to push the boundaries, but she has class.

"She is also a rich, spoilt playgirl. She is a Paris Hilton who is outgoing and a shopaholic."
