Pirates and Teko make up

ORLANDO PIRATES and Teko "General" Modise have resolved their "misunderstanding" and everything is "just fine" between their star linkman and the club, at least according to Bucs' administrative executive Floyd "Jomo" Mbele yesterday.

The two parties met yesterday to resolve what Mbele described as an "internal misunderstanding" and the stocky Bucs official is happy the meeting yielded positive results.

Mbele would not be drawn into giving more details of the gathering, reiterating that it was an "internal matter".

Attempts to get comments from Modise and his business manager, Jazzman Mahlakgane, were unsuccessful last night as their cellphones were off.

Yesterday's meeting came after the Bafana Bafana midfielder went AWOL for three days and missed the Soweto derby against Kaizer Chiefs at Orlando Stadium on Saturday.

It was believed that the injury he sustained in their 1-2 defeat against Maritzburg United had sidelined him for the Soweto derby. But it was later claimed that the talented linkman was fit to play against Chiefs, with the Pirates medical team declaring the playmaker in good health.

Bucs coach Rudi Krol was quoted as saying he was not aware of Modise's whereabouts.

"We don't know where Teko is right now," said Krol. "We last saw him on Thursday morning when the team returned to Johannesburg from Pietermartizburg."

"We are all happy that this matter is over and Teko will undergo rehabilitation after his injury. Our medical team will monitor his progress and so I can't say how he will be with his injury when we play our last match of the season," Mbele said.

The Buccaneers, who disappointed this season, play Bloemfontein Celtic in their season-ending match on March 6.

Modise is one of the most talented players in the Premiership but his form has plummeted this season. He also put on a doleful display at the 2009 Fifa Confederations Cup.

Despite his disappointing form he remains one of Bafana's trump cards for the World Cup finals.
