There are buildings in the CBD that should have been cleared years ago, but nothing has been done. It takes years, money and court orders for the legal owners to get restitution. It seems sometimes things happen when there are kickbacks to city officials.
Yes, illegal occupation is a double-edged sword. There are people with nowhere else to go and then there are the owners who should see some benefit from their investment. What we need is a clear and enforceable policy that benefits everyone.
