Chevrolet Cruze sure means business

THE Chevrolet Cruze, a 2010 South African Car of the Year finalist, deserves the nomination.

This observation comes after we lived with the Cruze for a while.

Though our test model did not have the best gearbox around, it was nevertheless a perfect family car. It is jampacked with technological features and looks good.

It was the top-of-the-range 1,8 LT auto petrol engine that produces a power output of 104kW and 176Nm of torque.

This car is packed with features such as traction control, rear park assist and rain sensing wipers.

It is fitted with a leather covered steering wheel, leather seats and dual zone climate control air conditioning as standard.

Power folding mirrors are also a standard feature as well as auto headlights, while a sunroof comes as an option.

The Cruze means business, considering what Chevrolet has put into marketing this product.

Chevrolet undertook ekasi tours late last year to promote a product they call" the heart of Chevrolet".

This marketing strategy is paying off since the Cruze's visibility von the roads cannot be ignored.

The Chevrolet Cruze certainly demonstrates good build quality.

The engine and transmission are mounted on a sub-frame that is isolated from the main body structure by four rubber mountings.

This helps minimise the amount of road noise and vibration that is transferred to the cabin of the vehicle and also facilitates tuning of the ride and handling characteristics.

The interior carpeting - precisely formed to the shape of the floor pan for a precise fit - incorporates a composite underlay and thick, 14 ounce carpeting material.

The new Chevrolet Cruze is covered by a five year-120000km warranty, with a five year unlimited anti-corrosion warranty as well.

Service intervals are 15000km. A three-year-60000km Service Plan is included in the purchase price.
