Warwick flyover opened

THE eThekwini Municipality yesterday officially opened the city's multimillion rand Warwick Inbound Viaduct.

The flyover will cater for traffic entering the city from the western freeway over the Warwick Area into Johannes Inkosi (Alice) Street and is part of the 2010 Warwick development project.

The project was designed and planned by municipal staff from the Transport Authority and Roads provision Department of the Engineering Unit.

The project, which has taken two full years to complete, amounted to R245million.

eThekwini Mayor Obed Mlaba praised the contribution of the municipality's staff towards the design and planning of the flyover.

He assured people that the inbound viaduct was not the only project to be completed in the Warwick area as more would come.

"This flyover is the artistic work delivered by officials in the CBD.

"There will be more of such work being done in Warwick."
