SOUTH AFRICA MEET LIKOENA

THE South African national soccer side, Amabinneplaas, complete their week-long tour of Lesotho with a friendly against Likoena in Maseru today at 5pm.

THE South African national soccer side, Amabinneplaas, complete their week-long tour of Lesotho with a friendly against Likoena in Maseru today at 5pm.

This match was initially scheduled to take place yesterday but was postponed to accommodate Lesotho Premier League fixtures.

"The Lesotho Football Association asked us to play on Monday to avoid disrupting their weekend Premier League fixtures," said SA team manager Barney Kujane.

Last Thursday Likoena and South Africa, guided by Serame Letsoaka, drew zero all.

South Africa are preparing for the 2010 Africa Championship of Nations in March.

Letsoaka's charges start their campaign with an away match against Botswana at the University of Gaborone as the national stadium is being upgraded.

Following the withdrawal of players like Godfrey Sapula, Robyn Johannes and Lucky Khune, Letsoaka has roped in Manqoba "Shakes" Ngwenya and Mpho Matsi.

Other members of the team, made up mainly of bench warmers at their respective clubs are Jackson Mabogwane, Thabo Moleko, Buti Khoza and Jacob Mokhasi.

Safa communications director Morio Sanyane said the federation has decided to use the Under-23 team for the championships but could not get the required players because the Premiership and First Division season was under way.
