TWO Nigerian nationals were arrested for allegedly being in possession of five bags of cocaine with a street value of about R285000 in Lennoxton town near Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal police said yesterday.

Superintendent Vincent Mdunge said the arrests took place yesterday when police received information that there were drugs at a house in the area.

While arresting the first man they received information that another, a 40-year-old Nigerian man, was escaping and was believed to be the first man's partner, Mdunge said.

"Police chased the second man and caught him," he said.

The two men were due to appear at the Newcastle magistrate's court today. - Sapa
