While SuperSport United beat Mbabane Swallows 3-1

Moroka Swallows drew 1-1 with Pamplemousses of Mauritius.

These opening matches were played away yesterday. According to Swallows brand manager Siya Sangweni, Swallows' goal was scored by striker Siyabonga "Bhele" Nomvete.

"We could not have asked for a better start, it's important to score goals in this tournament because of the away goal rule.

"It's gonna be tough but our aim is to go all the way to the final and win it.

"Orlando Pirates (African Champions League) and Kaizer Chiefs (Confederation Cup) are the only local sides to have won Confederation of African Football competitions.

"We also want to be African champions this time round, we have many players with massive international experience to help us."

Supersport's goals were scored by Thabo Mongalo, Tebogo Langerman and Dario Monteiro.

Supersport's head of delegation, Lucas Nhlapo said they deserved to win. "United played as a unit and will definitely qualify for the next round," he said.
