Akon, Whitney to perform in SA

A-LIST American songstress Whitney Houston and multi-platinum awarded artist Akon are headed for Durban next month.

The contract with Akon has been signed and he will be at the concert at Moses Mabhida Stadium on March 27. Dolphin Concerts of Durban hope to finalise Houston's contract within days.

Babs, Akon's personal friend and president of his Konvict Clothing Line, confirmed he had flown into SA just for one day to visit the stadium.

"The signing up of Akon for this concert is just the start of things for Africa. We plan to open an office in Durban with Dolphin Concerts to plan events in Africa as well as market the Konvict brand here," he said.

He also felt that there was a lot of good that he and Akon could do for the youth. Akon was born in Senegal and Babs in Ghana.

Ethekwini deputy mayor Logie Naidoo, an avid fan of both Akon and Houston, spontaneously burst into song and received a round of applause for his efforts.

He hoped Houston would sign the contract.
