Molefe never looked back and no wonder he is one of the best 30 match officials selected to handle the 2010 Fifa World Cup matches.
Molefe is one of the two South Africans who are on the World Cup panel along with his "partner in crime" - referee Jerome Damon.
Damon and Molefe, who were both at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, have been at many Premiership, Confederation of African Football and Fifa matches together.
"I first saw it on the Fifa website that I had been selected together with Jerome, the feeling was great because the World Cup is in our country," Molefe said.
"There was room for disappointment, given the politics in our sport. I only have control of myself, not the appointments.
"I knew that Jerome and I met all the requirements as set out by Fifa. I keep on saying Jerome and I are privileged. the standard of refereeing in SA is high."
Molefe and Damon have also refereed at the Olympic Games, the Fifa World Under-17 Championships and the World Youth Championships.
