JOMO Mogale, he who led Khutsong into a demarcation battle with the government, is now taking aim at the mayor and his councillors.

JOMO Mogale, he who led Khutsong into a demarcation battle with the government, is now taking aim at the mayor and his councillors.

Mogale and residents of Khutsong want their mayor and his officials "to shape up or ship out".

In fact. they want mayor Papi Molokwane out as soon as possible.

"Khutsong needs a mayor. The present mayor was imposed on us," said Mogale, who is leader of Merafong Demarcation Forum.

Mogale was addressing residents gathered yesterday at a local stadium.

Molokwane was blamed for the lack of service delivery, awarding of contracts "to friends and relatives" and alleged nepotism in the municipality.

"The mayor and his officials are not doing anything for us," resident Joseph Moswetsi said.

Pensioner Pascaline Thejane said she has had a big problem over the past 17 years. Her neighbour had extended his house into a portion of her yard.

The extension interfered with waste pipe from his neighbour's toilet.

For years, says Thejane, she and her children have had to endure the smell from the exposed waste.

"This is a health hazard, and the municipality has been turning a deaf ear," she said.

On entering her yard one is hit by the stench of urine and waste from her neighbour's toilet.

Mogale appealed to the ANC to implement strict measures to ensure service delivery and good leadership.

He said residents would soon approach Luthuli House to intervene.
