KAIZER Chiefs will need a miracle to win the much- sought-after Absa Premiership title this season.

This is the view of their coach, Vladimir Vermezovic, after Amakhosi allowed bottom club Jomo Cosmos to deny them maximum points on Saturday.

Vermezovic might be right considering that Chiefs also threw away another two crucial points when they played to a goalless draw against Moroka Swallows last Tuesday. A clearly disappointed Vermezovic said stupidity cost them the three points against Ezenkosi in their 2-all draw at Loftus Stadium.

Vermezovic had talked about the importance of winning the match during the week and a lapse in concentration saw the Soweto side share the spoils with Cosmos.

"The opponents (Cosmos) deserved a point because of their fighting spirit. Our players are not mentally strong and because of our stupid mistakes, we lost points."

However the point was crucial for Cosmos, who are scrapping for their lives at bottom of the table.

But it should be noted that Ezenkosi are prepared to die with their boots on to survive the chop considering their fighting spirit against Chiefs, who were widely tipped to brush Cosmos aside.

Chiefs were first to score through Knowledge Musona in the 20th minute, but Thapelo Tshilo equalised on the stroke of half-time.

Amakhosi restored their lead through Siphiwe Tshabalala, who struck in the 67th minute.

But while their supporters imagined that the three points were already in the bag, Siza Dlamini spoilt the party with the stoppage-time leveller.
