FORMER Reserve Bank governor, Tito Mboweni, has been appointed non-executive chairperson of Nampak.

Mboweni, who was minister of labour before he moved to head the Reserve Bank, will take up his new position on June 1.

The National Union of Metal Workers of SA said they hoped Mboweni uses his new job to "cleanse himself of the sins" he committed at the Reserve Bank.

"This appointment should be about cleansing himself by advancing transformation and better conditions of employment for workers at Nampak," Numsa's Castro Ngobese said. - Sapa
