Celtic hard nut to crack for Birds

BLOEMFONTEIN Celtic have a chance to put their disappointing midweek result behind when they welcome Moroka Swallows to Seisa Ramabodu Stadium on Sunday at 3.30pm.

BLOEMFONTEIN Celtic have a chance to put their disappointing midweek result behind when they welcome Moroka Swallows to Seisa Ramabodu Stadium on Sunday at 3.30pm.

Celtic played to a goalless draw against Mamelodi Sundowns and are understandably seething after Thembile Kanono's superb strike, which seemed to have crossed the goalline, was disallowed by referee Charl Theron.

Siwelele are sitting comfortably in the top eight bracket and they must be happy with how they have fared this season. Swallows will find them a hard nut to crack, especially in their own back yard.

Swallows, boosted by their midweek display against Kaizer Chiefs, will not lie back and allow Celtic to do as they please. Although they are out of the running for the league championship, they are eyeing a top-eight finish.

l AmaZulu will try to add to Mpumalanga Black Aces' woes when they welcome Aces to Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday. Usuthu are in high spirits after claiming the scalps of neighbours Lamontville Golden Arrows on Tuesday.

"We have forgotten about our win (2-1) against Arrows and are looking forward to Sunday's match," AmaZulu publicist Philani "Zane" Mabaso said yesterday. Kickoff is at 3.30pm.

l Abafana Bes'thende will try to make amends at the expense of Maritzburg United, who visit the Harry Gwala Stadium in Pietermaritzburg tomorrow at 8.15pm.
